Please help - Electric bill is huge! Average use?

Hi
I'm trying to look into the average daily / monthly use for a 2 bed flat - young professionals. We have no gas only electricity.
A lot of the forums that I've searched state the average for gas and electric, and mine seems high. However none show the average for only electric use.
We are rarely in the house - but do have phones / laptops etc that we charge.
Currently our daily average use 68 KWPH - which seems high to all the averages I've seen so far. But is this about right taking into account that we don't have gas?
I love my flat - but the bills are so high I fear we may need to move after the summer to prevent the winter bills again. Please help if you think this is a correct bill?
Thanks in advance for any advice!

Ouch - 68 Kwh a day works out to over 24,000 Kwh a year which is a huge amount for a 2bed flat
More detail is needed - What sort of meter do you have, ( Standard or ECO7), and how is the flat and the Hot water heated.?0 -
The problem is an 'average' covers a bedsit to a large mansion!
At this time of the year 68kWh a day would be excessive, but not on a cold winter day.
As said above. you need to quantify how the figure of 68kWh a day was reached - from one bill? if so was that bill based on an estimated reading? was it from you reading the meter? etc0 -
thanks both so much for replying - I'm not sure what meter i have i will check tonight and let you know.
It is heated via towel rail in the bathroom and small electric heaters on the walls they are on a thermastat.
Water is a water tank that goes on twice a day early morning and circa 16.00 to get hot water for the evening. This water heats the kitchen sink and bathroom sink and bath. The showers are always hot so i presume they are electric showers and the water is instantly heated? (when we have no sink hot water the showers are still hot)
Any advice you can give would be great - i'll let you know what meter tomorrow0 -
Also sorry the bill is based on actual reading I gave them that was taken on the 17/040

How much heating does the current 68kwh include?
I had the same set up as you, but in a 1 bed flat. Never used the towel heater at all, but did use the electric heaters to keep the flat 18-22C during the day and evening (always turned off over night). Usual winter usage was about 15kwh/day and summer was about 7kwh/day, so even for a bigger flat 68kwh/day seems massive.0 -

If you don't know what type of meter you have, how do you know the bill is correct???
Have you even registered with the supplier? How did you register without knowing the meter reading(s)?electrichelp wrote:Also sorry the bill is based on actual reading I gave them that was taken on the 17/040 -

How long have you been in the flat?
Was the start meter reading Estimated(usually denoted by an 'E')
What period does this bill cover?
It is fair to point out that with 'heaters on the wall' immersion heated hot water tank and electric showers you have just about the most expensive heating arrangement it is possible to get.
The electric showers are particularly expensive to run. - around 2pence a minute.0 -

That is the July 2008 version, since then their figures have been revised.
For instance it give the new average gas figure as 16,500kWh pa (down from 20,500) it is now 13,500kWh!and that 16,500 kWh, rather than the present level of 20,500 kWh, would be more representative of current medium domestic gas consumption.0 -
