Neff Dishwasher Trouble

My Neff dishwasher is playing up. The cycle runs and then beeps indicating that the cycle has ended. When you open up it is obvious that the cycle hasn't finished. The red tap symbol is lit up and there is a lack of rinsing and sometimes not all of the water has drained. I have checked the filters and drain pump and all seems well. It is integrated and I would rather not have to drag it out if there is an easier fix. Any dishwasher experts out there able to help?
I called Neff customer service. They will send out an engineer for £95 + parts or you can take out a 12 month warranty at £14/month that will cover this repair including parts and anything else that goes wrong in the next 12 months. If it is not repairable they will fit a new machine. Rip off or worth doing?
The dishwasher is about 4 years old.
Cheers!

You should be able to get a white goods engineer out for less than £40. £95 is absurd, as is a service contract at £168pa.No free lunch, and no free laptop0

The symbol is a water filling problem, I would suggest removing the machine and after turning the water supply to the machine off unscrew the fill pipe(s) from the back of the machine , there will be a mesh gauze where the pipe threads onto the machine which you can pull out and clean ( bits of much in it will cause the machine to fill slowly which will produce the light) . If this isn't the problem it's more likley you need a new fill solenoid ( the bit the pipes screw onto) £95 call out is probably right for a manufacturer engineer who should have all the parts on board and be familiar with your machine , or you could pay £45 to somebody who may or may not be clueless and lacking In parts ( unless you know of an engineer who knows his stuff) ,usually by the time a rubbish engineer has spent trying to find the fault ( the £50 callout isnt such a good deal when he spends a few hours adding extra labour charges scratching his head and has to return 10 days later with the correct part )0

Thanks for the advice guys. I might have solved the problem. As I was manually washing the dishes this morning I noticed that the sink was very slow to drain. I had a ferret around under the sink where the dishwasher links to the wastepipe and unscrewed the U bend and a few other bits of pipe. The foul smelling gunk that I pulled out could have been stopping the machine draining properly. I have put it on a hot cycle with no dishes in to see if a good flush through sorts the problem. Fingers crossed.
