Buyer wants a refund

I sold a jacket on ebay and now the buyer is asking for a refund because he claims he was unaware it has elbow patches.
I responded explaining that I did mention this in my description, but he is still requesting a refund!

He got a real bargain and don't understand what the problem is,
Should I save myself any further hassle and give in?

  • Well if you think you can sell it for the same amount or more next time then yes refund and relist.
  • Yeah, I think I could.

It's just frustrating. I'm sure he waited for me to leave positive feedback before opening a case against me.

Ask him to send the item back to you with tracking.
If he opened a case then you will get your FVF back automatically once you have refunded the buyer.
Is the cost of postage more than the item? buyer may decide not to bother returning!
  • No, the item cost more than the postage.

Does he get the refund before I get the item?

Am I likely to win if he has simply not read the description properly?

With the current state of defects, you have one now regardless. So your inclination may be to fight the case.

Be clear and concise. Remember it is Manila who read them.

Either fight the case or ask him to send it back at his cost for a refund.

If you go for the latter, you don't refund until you get it back.

Ask buyer to return and you will give full refund.

This is also why I don't leave buyer feedback until they leave me seller feedback, probably pretty cynical of me

Whether you have left feedback or not makes no difference to a claim. I leave feedback when payment is made.

There have been some threads here where people have had complaints from buyers that the seller has not left feedback. I'm not sure if some people really want to buy things or just have a bigger number after their name.
