hiring a car in europe without a creditcard

Hello and good morning - advise / help needed please.

Dh and myself want to hire a car in Germany for approx 5 days, unfortunately we cannot use credit cards as defaulted in repayments and credit check would not be approved

This is not a trip as in holiday, flights booked and paid for - originally we were going to borrow Ds car but after rta it is off road.

Any help / advise would be appreciated......thanks

Debit cards work just as well as credit cards but you need to ensure you have the £1,000 or whatever the preauthorised amount required is as available funds that wont be needed for the next week or so.

Whilst it is more expensive to buy the CDW from the car hire company rather than a third party one it does tend to reduce the amount they want on preauthorisation

Avis accept car hire with only a debit card, full payment in advance and the holding fee of a full tank of fuel - result!!
