Extra payment of Child tax credit.

Just been checking my bank account online and see we have been paid child tax credit.

but our payday is on a Tuesday and we got that as normal this week and the payment we got today is around £2 more then normal payment.

so this the extra payment due to the new tax year?

we have had no letter from them.

  • I usually get my tax credits on a Friday but have had a payment today. It's slightly higher than usual so I suspect it's something to do with the end of the tax year. I checked the payment schedule and doesn't seem to fit in with any bank holidays or anything?

Would be interesting to find out why the payment is there though.
  • I had a baby late last year and updated tax credits not long after, my tax credits were adjusted at the time so not sure it could be that.

Wow.. I just checked my bank account, I get mine paid every 4 weeks and it is £6 less than the previous 4 weeks amount
  • I meant more in the last week or fortnight. Something you change a few months ago wouldn't cause a one off payment now.

Besides that, nothing. I have seen a lot of people saying today that they have had two payments this week but no one really knows why.
  • Funny thing happened to us too. Got the easter monday one on thursday for what is correct amount and another £196 odd today. Have not renewed yet as i have not had P60u or renewal pack, nor have I told them of any changes. No paperwork to date. Very odd.
  • I had a payment arrive in my account yesterday
When my usual payment date is a Monday . I've not touched it
and am just treating it as next Mondays payment , if it's not and it's just an extra payment I will just bung it in my savings until I should need to use it
