John Lewis do certainly have better customer service than Currys but are still not TV experts in the first place. Neither are best placed to actually give you real advice over the advantages of one set -v- another nor manage your expectations of results.

It really depends on the staff member. PC world, currys, richer sounds, sevenoaks, hughes and my local JL have all sent staff to the same training days i've been on. Some were at specialist training events run at panasonic and sony's uk HQs, as well as Apple courses I've been on.

Of course, none of them are experts... I'm not an expert. Experts don't work in retail, they have more lucrative jobs.

I've always found the opposite with sound, the HD channels tend to be quieter than the SD.

Although mine goes through an AV amp, so it might be how it handles Dobly Digital from the HD channels
