Hi all I realy need some help please I have purchased a new hd smart 3D tv from currys 2 days ago got it home set it up and I am not happy with it because it has a fault with the picture it is very grainy and poor quality and also when you turn the channels over the sound is lounder on one channel then quieter on another to Me it is faulty . The tv cost me £700.00 pound I paid for it on my credit card and also took out the 3 year warrenty . today I took the tv back to currys and they said we will have to test it to give me a exchange or full refund so I said yes that's fine so they got it out off the box plugged it in and yes the picture was grainy but they said its ok and that it isent faulty but it was clearly a bad picture they said. They plugged it in to a coaxial aerial as well as a usb dongle demo thingand hd and they kept saying its fine and that I cant have a refund because it is not faulty 2 hours I was in there in the end the told me to contact LG direct and tell them and they will give me a authorised code for a refund or exchange so I left the store with the tv went home and rung lg and they said the store needs to ring them the cant give me a code the store has to call them so the man at lg said he will call the store and sort it out and would txt me the outcome but nothing has happened I feel that im just getting fob off left right and centre I am at my wits end what to do next please can somebody help me in this matter thankyou

Have you tried playing a dvd via HDMI cable to ensure its the actual picture quality?
Whats the specs of the tv (or which tv is it so we can have a look at specs)? Was it a full HD one? Or just HD ready?
The varying volume.....I don't watch a load of tv shows myself so can't say with certainty but thats pretty normal (or at least is normal when playing netflix app then switching to tv or xbox for example). Also adverts tend to be louder (deafening sometimes). You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
How big is the TV
How far away are you sitting from it.
Exactly what are you watching that is "grainy" (channel and program).
Is, say, bbc one HD grainy when showing an HD-recorded broadcast as opposed to something recorded in SD?
What other devices are you watching things on?
Anything through a scart will be grainy. Anything in SD will be relatively grainy, especially if you're close.
Stuff on the HD channels will be relatively sharp, but it sounds like you have a 40" + tv, so if you're less than 2 metres away from it, you can expect some grainyness because you're too close.
The difference in volume is to be expected, especially if youre going from an HD channel to an SD channel, because HD channels have greater dynamic range.
It's not what you want to hear, but unless you can answer all of these questions, it sounds like your tv isn't faulty, and you just don't understand what you have bought.0 -
Different broadcasters have different levels of quality and the volume is a direct result of that.
HD TV's are only as good as the signal you give them, link it up to a proper HD source such as Sky with a hdmi lead broadcast in HD and if you still have a problem then you have a case.
The problem with HD TV's is a lot of people expect to stick an aerial in the back and be watching true HD, it doesn't work like that. Take this with the much larger size in a small room and the view distance can make them look bad.0
