Safeloans - refusing to fix incorrect credit report note

Hi everyone
I'm sure this has been answered elsewhere in another post so firstly apologies for asking!!
A few years ago I had taken out many payday loans and was in a complete mess. Thanks to Payplan I'm now clear but one of the payday lenders I had a loan from, Safeloans, is still sbowing a £75 balance on my credit file. It has been like this since April 2012, when I received an email from them confirming the loan was settled. Since then I've tried several times to have them correct the credit report entry but to no avail.
Now, they just aren't replying to my emails (all of my correspondence with them is on email).
They told me they had contacted CreditExpert and to allow 30 days for it to be fixed, but that is since January and I've asked many times and they kept saying the same. The last time they replied was at the end of March.
Can anyone advise me on what I can do? The account also shows a default which is fair enough but there definitely isn't a £75 outstanding balance and they've confirmed this is in email to me more than once.
Would it help sending one of the letters found on MoneySavingExpert?
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
K

If more than 8 weeks since you complained, call the FOS:

If they confirmed it via email, it should be fairly easy to get fixed. Won't be quick though can take a few months.:beer:0 -
Thanks happy_bunny - I haven't technically complained to them. I just kept sending follow up emails since January. Do I need to submit a formal complaint? Or does the fact that it's still unresolved more than 3 months after bringing it up constitute a complaint?
Thanks!

When you bring something like this to their attention, by phone, email, letter or in person, that constitutes a complaint.
Doesn't need to be a letter headed complaint, but I usually do so as then they are in no doubt.
Call the FOS, they will talk you through what's happened and advise what to do, or likely they will contact them for you.:beer:0 -
I will do that tomorrow. Appreciate your help.0
