150 bar Pressure Washer at Lidle

This week Lidle have an offer of a Parkside pressure washer 2100 watts and 150 bar for £89.99.

Was wondering if anyone can advise if this would remove paint (and underneath that) years of old hardened tile cement as I've already tried paint stripper and hot gun and it's just not working. It's for a dozen stone external steps, leading to front door.

Currently it looks quite a mess as the previous owners removed the tiles so all you can see is the wavy lines of the cement. They then just painted over the top and the paint is blistered and coming off in some areas yet stubbornly sticking to the steps in other parts. Any suggestions most welcome.

  • Sounds a decent washer and as it's probably German a good buy. But I would not rate your chances of removing old paint with it. Why not tile over the steps with a decent imitation York slab or similar

  • bar meant nothing without LPM Litres per minute, Higher th ebetter.

If it has a TURBO NOZZLE it will be better than standard nozzles

Paint, I might but Nitromors the paint first and maybe.

Anotherbaldrick: Great suggestion re tiling with York stone. However, there are over 12 wide steps with a landing in between so think the cost would be prohibitive, but I'm definitely going to look into it. Thanks again.

Nobulljustthetruth: Is Nitromors the best paint stripper. I had tried Homebase own make but it seemed worse than useless. Appreciate your reply.

Nitromors is good stuff, as mentioned above wear goggles. And I would suggest gloves, and a long-sleeved shirt ( i.e. not a t-shirt) - or overalls. It burns like billy-o if you splash it on your skin - there speaks the voice of experience :(

You say your situation is outdoors, which is fine. Just to mention if you ever use it indoors, open the doors and windows, the fumes are pretty potent as well !

Use an old brush to apply it ( i.e. one that you can just chuck away afterwards ). Leave it to soak for a while, you'll see the paint bubble and blister. Then scrape it off.

I'd be careful about pressure-washing it off - although the nitromors will obviously be diluted at that point, I still wouldn't want it splashing about the place.

Nitromors will not get rid of tile cement.
I would use a small angle grinder with a stone cutting disc ( held at an acute angle ) to "stroke" away the cement.
A stiff wire brush attachment in a power drill might also work.
    Forgotten but not gone.
