Halifax One Credit Card - Online Banking

Hello everybody,
I was given a Halifax One credit card last year and took it in order to improve my credit file. I immediately set up a Direct Debit to clear £100 off the outstanding amount which was fine for the first few months.
Last month I found that on logging in, my account was showing a late payment. I had already paid the minimum payment that month (as I like to pay extra when I can) but realised the Direct Debit had not been taken out.
I called Halifax who explained that because I had missed the payment (the Direct Debit was still showing on my current account!) I would be charged £12. I disputed this, explaining that I had set the DD up and changed nothing, so they eventually removed it. I asked what effect it would have on my credit report and they couldn't answer, but said it should be fine. The advisor set up another DD which I can see on my account.
I logged on today to check all my DD had been taken out (after a long Easter Bank Holiday) and again, no payment has been made. I quickly made a large payment but I am concerned I will be given another late payment marker.
I'm really annoyed that in total, this is the third DD I have set up with Halifax. My bank account, savings account and mortgage are all with Halifax, so I can't understand why this DD is causing such an issue!
Has anybody else had issues with Halifax and Direct Debits to pay their credit card or is it just me?
Edit - I did pay another £70 off earlier this month...could it be that because I've made the minimum payment, they haven't taken my direct debit out?

Some credit cards lenders will take out the minimum payment DD regardless of any earlier payments you make.
Others will not take out the DD if you pay more than the minimum payment after the statement date and before 3 days before the DD is due to be taken.
If you have already paid £70 since your last statement date and that is more than the minimum then you won't get a late payment marker or charge.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0
