My son had a Sumvision Cyclone Explorer from asda on their Black Friday sale Nov 13. It was a present from his grandad for christmas, all was ok until a few weeks ago and i was charging it for him after 5 mins i smelt something and went over to it picked it up and burnt my fingers. It had melted inside where the lead plugs in to charge it. I contacted asda explaining what happened and also that it was a present and i didn't have the receipt nor proof of purchase, my dad can't find receipt and it was brought on an asda savings card.
Do i have any chance of getting refund/exchange??

You said you contacted then so what did they say?0

Only with proof of purchase. Proof of purchase does not necessarily have to be a receipt. It could be a card statement which shows the purchase. If you have neither, then you are reliant upon the good will of Asda, alternatively if Asda are unwilling to help, you could approach the manufacturer instead but again without proof of purchase they may only act as a gesture of goodwill0

It was by email and they replied "go to customer service with proof of purchase for help". I have replied to them asking to read my email again as it was on an asda saver card. Still waiting to hear from them. Just wanted to see if i had any chance of exchange/refund..0

Not really - if an ASDA product, they often waive the requirement for a receipt as only they supply, but for anything else whether a present or not - the receipt is your guarantee and very important. It validates the purchase and proves the date of supply. Without this, there is nothing and you can only ask, but if they refuse, it is understandable.0

I bought a radio/CD player from @sda last year and it was one of their own products. I couldn't find the receipt when I discovered it was faulty. I rang them and they said if I had no receipt they couldn't do anything. I also went in and spoke to customer services-they wouldn't do anything and In the end I gave up and just threw it away!
