Mortgage PPI Claim

Options
Hi. We had a mortgage that we believe was originally with Leeds but was taken over by Halifax in the 90´s, but I wrote to Halifax about claiming against the PPI and they said they had no record of us having PPI on the policy. Unfortunately we don´t have the policy and more because we cleared it in March 2003. We remember having the cover because my husband lost his job in mid 90´s and when we tried to claim we were told it would not cover the first 6 months payments but would afterwards if my husband still didn´t have a job. What can we do if anything?

This is not a legitimate complaint reason. The PPI would not kick in until your husband became eligible for Jobseeker's allowance. Clearly the size of his redundancy payment precluded this for several months.

Regardless, if you have no documentation and the Bank have no records, any complaint is dead in the water.

That is quite normal. It is to prevent people claiming on it once they become aware of an issue in their workplace. That is not grounds for complaint.
