advice for future plans

Options
we have been debt free since 2010, helped by payplan, we have been on pension credit, until we become pensioners. We are 63 & 67, we finding it very hard to keep our home maintained. Due to age on property, we have been without hot water because the boiler give up the ghost, just for hot water for washing etc. we use kettles etc

We are scared of getting into debt, etc. We would like to improve the property, we have very small saving, on our bank account.

Now our son has come home again, due to him being homeless, it is tough, though he said its only for the short term.

Any advise to give us, l would be grateful, would the first thing to do is get our credit rating etc.. but who with, to use, ty ?

    Hi and welcome

Do you have any surplus income at all monthly? even if you could get credit would you realistically be able to afford to repay it?

How much were you hoping to borrow to do the essential repairs?

There may be a chance you would be eligible for a government budgeting loan from the DWP as you receive pension credit.

Is your son helping to contribute to the household at all? is he working and if so is he paying you 'board'/rent? or if he is unemployed is he claiming benefits and making at least a token amount to you?
