Hey all

Started comping a few months ago, but now wanting to devote a bit more time to it.

I've set up a new email address to comp with, but it has the word 'competition' in it, does anyone thing this affects the amount of wins you have as it shows you're a 'comper'?

Also, does anyone think it makes a difference to winning if you sign up to newsletters etc? As in, you're more likely to win if you sign up to them?

Thanks to all the posters on here, hoping to get more involved once i figure everything out!!

I ALWAYS indicate a big fat 'no' to both of those, unless it is something that I'd really like to hear more about or a comp you enter by signing up for their newsletter.

It should make no difference to whether you are included in the comp or not, although some smaller companies may break the rules. I have to say I’ve been really lucky with wins & it seems to have made no difference whatsoever to my chances by always opting out where I can. It just means that I end up with less spam & on less junk mail lists.

It shouldn't make a difference but why take the risk.

I agree with mjm3346... There's just no point risking a win for the sake of an email address.

I suspect with some of the Rafflecopters, it could make a difference... There are a few bloggers recently who've said how much they dislike those of us with comping as a hobby.

Someone here a while ago had competition in their email address, wasn't winning, changed the address and then started winning. I forget who it was, and it could just have been a coincidence, but makes you think... Can't find that one, but did find another thread, which was the opposite: someone winning more on the email address with comper in :rotfl:
