Just a vent post. I know they say buying a house is stessful but my god. FEAR!!! The order of panic.............
1. Mortgage Fear. Issues with our dream property being eligible under Help To Buy. First mortage application rejected at last stage.
2. Wads of Cash Fear. Got DIP but discover massive reservation fee required by developers. Fear of losing this money or not having enough left for the deposit. This fear was unfounded, we never ended up paying it for some reason.
3. Underwriter Fear. Unusual situation where my partner's bro has money going into his account. My god, the fear. Passed underwriters.
4. Listed Building Fear. Discovering our dream property is in a listed building. Will we lose the mortgage after the valuation? We did not.
5. Credit Report Fear. Panicking because I was late making a payment on my card. Will I get another credit check?? Is this game over??? Didn't even show on my report eventually.
6. Developers Fear. Threatening to put the house back on the market because they wanted a faster exchange. This is MEGA FEAR and we aren't out of those woods yet. They have currently agreed to hold off putting it back on the market and we are hoping to exchange next week.
7. Insurance Fear - Listed building! Can we get insured without complications?? Sorted it thank god.
So what is next?????
Seriously if I get out of all this without an ulcer it will be a miracle. It's just never ending!!

Good news on number 5.
Take a step back, if it falls through for ANY reason what is the worst that will happen? Is your life SOOOO bad at the minute?
As my mum always says - nobody is going to put you up against the wall and shoot you.
Why worry, what will be will be. If it falls through im sure you would find another property, everyone always finds their dream house on this site. I find it hard to believe everyone has found that one property in the whole word which is their DREAM.
some of that is sarcastic but you know what i mean. Worse things have happened at sea, its not worth having a coronary over.
Just to add... Its all part of the process that there are hiccups along the way. So long as everyone is sensible, it usually gets ironed out eventually.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. I feel your FEAR!
But the fear disappears the first second you hold those sharp little metal things called keysx

I feel exactly the same as you OP, and keep waiting for something to go wrong. I'm usually a level headed person, but I've never before felt stress like this in my life!
As my mum keeps telling me - take it easy - no one's died....0 -
Haha too true. I am turning into an alky!0
