We have trickle vents because we have a bungalow and leaving windows open even on the locked vent position would not be recommended as it makes them too easy for someone to force them.

We use the trickle vents all the time in summer if we are out and if necessary to air rooms in winter, we do not have any drafts when they are closed even in gales .

I have had them in a new build and i would say don't bother with them,
lets say you spend thousands on new windows the best you can get to help with the bills and to keep noise out, with those little trickle vents they make the windows leak sound from outside and no matter which type you got they all leak with draughts i had the north facing window not good.

Best off just opening windows on morning for fresh air

So have you had every brand and type of window fitted to your house, or are you some kind of professional window trickle vent tester?

I'm just curious as to how you can back-up the quoted statement. :D
