NNGGGRRRAAARRGGHHH!!!!
FURIOUS!!!
After settling my AA Finance Loan back in July (?) they have only bloody well gone and taken a loan payment this month. Just under £150 (which by my reckoning is the amount the payment would have been less the PPI payment).
Tried calling them, but fairly useless without any of the paperwork, so am hoping like mad I haven't thrown it away thinking it was all settled. Really want to get home to get on the phone to them again before 6, but am due a girly curry night with friends... so now I'm not in the mood for that and want to get sorted... which is making me cross that it's making me cross and ruining my evening.

Hi ShirePiskie I'm a long time lurker who's finally plucked up the courage to post.
If the payment they took was a direct debit then under the direct debit guarantee the bank can take the payment back from the AA for you and make them prove they are entitled to it. May help if you can't put your hands on the paperwork.

:hello: I don't mind at ALL. Very good points, I am sure I will get it all sorted, but it was just such a shock. Never had to fall back on the DD guarantee before, so hadn't even thought of it. Gold star to you, MutleysMum. :staradmin
Am immensely thankful I've started building up a monthly 'buffer' else 'losing' £150, if only for a few days while it gets sorted, could have been disastrous.... Although that's not the point and I'm certainly not going to tell them it's not left me on the edge of destitution!Debt 2008 - Approx £20k | April 2014 £6526 | 30 October 2015 DEBT FREE

I know it's very frustrating when something like this happens. You know you'll get it back, it's just the hassle that goes with it! Thank goodness for the buffer you have. Hope you sort it out quicklyNovember Grocery Challenge £0/£2500

In true YNAB 'roll with the punches' style-ee, I have created a new category in my budget called '!!!!!!' which currently includes the payment to AA Finance until it's sorted.
Found my paperwork with the settlement figure that I paid it end of JUNE by BACS.
If I'd missed a payment to them, they'd have charged me around £35... Would love to be able reverse this on to them!!Debt 2008 - Approx £20k | April 2014 £6526 | 30 October 2015 DEBT FREE

Praise indeed. The person I sit next to at work has just said she was watching breakfast TV earlier and she "saw that money saving man and he reminds me of you".

AA Finance payment all sorted - after three phone calls of nobody there having a scooby-doo!
Eventually got someone back on the call who just said. We'll get you a refund - no explanation or apology.... 15 days to get a cheques refund back to me - to be fair to the lady I was speaking to, she did suggest (as MutleysMum has already - top advice, thank you - delurk more often) going through my bank which would be instant. So have done that.
Relieved it wasn't an outstanding balance. DD cancelled as was transferred over to my (new) account and only now mildly miffed at AA Finance/ Halifax/ BoS's ineptitude!
I can now add income to the '!!!!!!!' YNAB category (but might just keep it there for any future foul ups by the financial industry!!Debt 2008 - Approx £20k | April 2014 £6526 | 30 October 2015 DEBT FREE

Oi money savers! Why has nobody told me about the Card Factory before???
There are a ridiculous amount of October birthdays among my family and close friends, so I popped in there this week while passing, thinking it would be horrible shiny, twee, flimsy, won't stand up cards.
Bought 6 cards (for a 40 year old, a 37 year old, a 5 years old, a six year old, a 9 year old and a 11 year old) plus 40th balloons and banners in readiness for husband's birthday- all for under a fiver and as good as you would get anywhere else.
No I don't work for them
Am properly going to turn into my Gran and buy up all the cards for the year!
In other news, Quidco has just made £7.80 available for payment. Hurrah. Need to get myself set up on TopCashBack too ready for the 'C' word.
Have a great weekend MSEs and DFWs.... Beach tomorrow if this wonderful weather continues. Will cry when I finally have to stop coming to work in flip-clops.Debt 2008 - Approx £20k | April 2014 £6526 | 30 October 2015 DEBT FREE

Despite Talktalk's best efforts to balls up their website, have managed to get the early payment made with the 15% discount, although I did notice from next month they are making it a10% discount. Frankly, when our contract is up (December), will be looking elsewhere as their customer service has been shocking (unless of course they offer us the moon on a stick to stay, I'm not proud). We currently get TV, broadband and phone, so any suggestions, much appreciated.
Have bottom of the fridge chilli festering in the slow cooker at the moment. It was on the menu plan anyway but there were a couple of wrinkly courgettes and a few sad spring onions and half a tin of beans that got chucked in as well, plus the leftovers from Friday night's home made blazing hot salsa. We do not like food waste, no we do not.Debt 2008 - Approx £20k | April 2014 £6526 | 30 October 2015 DEBT FREE
