BMW Finance

Options
Anybody had any joy with BMW Finance? While searching for CCP paperwork at the weekend I found my details for an old BMW loan. Contacted them and they've sent me my agreement and it shows that I was paying some form of PPI. Fortunately on the signed copy it shows that I've never marked the 'I/We' options to say that I accepted it so hopefully I have a good claim.

Being new to claiming, is it just a case of filling out the ombudsman questionnaire and covering letter?

Many thanks

Spurious complaint unless you can also show you had no need of the insurance.

Big question on car finance, WHEN ??

If before 14th Jan 2005, pre regulation and no chance.

On the form I've mentioned that I would have had sick pay where it asks

Started in 2001. I read that you can claim back whenever. Is that not the case? Guess I have nothing to lose.

The regulation of general insurance sales did not begin until January 2005. The major Banks already subscribed to the GISC code of conduct and so their sales of PPI cover a much earlier period, this probably accounts for your confusion.

Car dealers were not regulated in 2001 and so the dealer who sold you PPI will not have to even consider any complaint you might make. You'll also have no access to the Ombudsman.

You'll lose the time you spend writing a complaint and the cost of the stamp and stationary.

I'm sure I can afford that as I was paying £60/month for 36 months

My description was shorthand for wasting your time and money. BMW won't have to even consider your complaint. Do realise that any complaint has to go to the dealer who sold you the insurance.

Yes, but feel free to write a complaint if it gives you some closure, otherwise you'll probably wonder...
