selling a domain name

does anyone have experience with sedo or afternic to either buy or sell a domain?

I want to list, but they ask for a lot of personal information. I dont really want to be called, spammed or receive junk mail in the post after a bad experience with one domain register a few years ago.

I may list on ebay, but any other places I could list?

Have domains listed and sold via Sedo and never had any spam from them as a result.
  • many thanks. obvious the value depends on what the next person is willing to pay, but do you know any reliable valuation sites for a guide at best?

Wouldnt rate any of the automated systems.

Any form of engine can only work on keyword rich domains with a small premium added for very short domains. Anything that is more "brand" related it wont be able to price at all but then that is subject to the depth of pockets of the buyer and their passion for that name.

Checking a couple of them they put icloud.com at $15,000 where as Apple paid $4.5m for it.

Israel.com they value at $1m where as it last sold for $5.9m

One of my domains was valued at $1,000 but after 2 years of being for sale at $500 I've had no offers. Another of my domains they suggest around $50 whereas I was offered €1,000 for it

You can pay a human to value it, which is going to be better, but is still very subjective and tricky to find someone with an opinion worth having (certainly not me)
