Is this right

hello all

I have just done a comparison on energyhelpline.com and it says I can save £220 by switching to Scottish Power ! I am currently on British Gas dual fuel could I really save that much or am I missing something

thoughts appreciated

    Are you comaring like with like? (e.g. PP with one and DD with the other, online vs standard)
    Try some other sites and if they give you a similar diffence . . . go for your best result

    yes I have compared my kilowatt hours used for the year and paying by direct debit as i am doing now - is there any hassle with the switching

    I very much doubt if there is that difference between BG Click Energy(an on-line account) and SP on-line.

    You have to compare like with like.

    There's the question.
    Keep an eye on things and there shouldn't be.

    Make sure you can leave - no old balances on accounts etc

    Take the readings on the days that you switch, maybe even send them to both suppliers to be on the safe side.

    Cancel your DD at the bank for your old supplier after 2-3 weeks in case you're due a refund or for the final bill.

    Give your new supplier a few weeks to set things up, then send them a reading and ask for a statement/bill. This should catch any issue before too much has happened. Can also check they used the read you gave them.

    Check your bank statements to see that the new DDs are up and running.

    Seems like a lot, but hopefully none of it is needed, just to be absolutley sure.
