Is this considered acceptable?
Phones4u claimed they did this. Except, I haven't received an email from them. Or am I being unreasonable in expecting a letter?

Email is a legally accepted means of communications (as it has traceability). So the answer to your question is Yes. (Provided the contract T&Cs make it clear that contract revisions may be made via email - I think).
You could as easily not receive a letter as not receive an email. In fact it is more likely for a letter to go astray than an email.
Have you checked your SPAM/Junk folder?
Have you confirmed with P4U what email address they claim to have used for this notification?
Is it likely that you did receive it but binned it thinking it was just SPAM/marketing bumpf?0 -
