Hiya :-)
Been noticing that pc (dell inspiron 66s) noisier, and then in the last few days there were a lot of browser crashes. Thought I'd picked up a gremlin, so did a format. Same error, and today, suddenly black screen and then message about 'display driver stopped responding and has recovered'. Had only been a few months ago that I'd realised been using on board display, and got right cable fitted to nvidia card [had pc 2 years in june/july]. Strangest thing is that now every time I try to login to my online bank, specifically the second page of password entries, I can't, and entire pc screen goes black, then bsod, then reboots. Can't get into bank. Odder still is that it's on the second page, and the second number I try to choose. Done this 3 times now. BCCode 116 is the error, when pc restarts and into windows.
Hoping this isn't a sign of pc on the way out. I can unplug the cable from nvidia back to onboard, if it's the nvidia card on the way out, but seems odd that this happens on 2nd number on 2nd page of bank password entries, every time!
Thanks in advance for any advice.
Best regards, Cat

When you formatted and reinstalled, did you update all drivers and bring the OS up to date?
Did you clean the crap out from inside the case and check the fans are running correctly? Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -

Thanks espresso :-) I cleaned the dustbunnies, particularly from the fan, when the odd noise started, over a week or so ago. I ran the latest nvidia driver exe file after format yesterday, but haven't yet done all the microsoft updates. Will just set those going now ... just noticed graphics adaptor update and platform update, in optional.
Thanks :beer:0 -
Not saying it's necessarily part of your specific issue but it would be worth also checking the Dell site with your service tag to see if there is a later BIOS update available.
I was having 'Display driver has stopped working and recovered' issues on a new Dell T3600 workstation. A couple of months later Dell automatically sent a BIOS update and the problem never reoccurred.... Try removing the the Nvidia card and plugging just into the onboard display to work out whether it is the card or the onboard display that is causing the problems.
If it is the card alone then its an easy enough replacement if its needed.
If the problems are still persisting with the onboard one put the Nvidia card back in again and disable the onboard one of it isn't already. There may be a conflict somewhere in that case.0 -
You are not, by any chance, running Trusteer Rapport?0
