Hi, this has happened to me LOADS of times. It can take up to 10 days for the money to re-appear in your bank account.
The way the bank explained it to me is that ASDA have not actually got your money yet, when you use your debit card your account will put the money to one side ready to go out of your bank account (as asda have asked for it), so you can't spend it again, but sometimes what happens is, when they put the total amount through for your shopping it will take that amount as well.
The second amount is what asda actually take and the first amount is returned to your account, but can take up to 10 days.
The last time this happened to me i needed the money for something else so the bank told me to phone asda and tell them to release the money (as they had requested it in the first place), well after a few phone calls to adsa and barclays, barclays said the money would be back in my account by 3pm that day, it wasn't, i still had to wait.
I hope this makes sense.

But if they already requested the money and it was put aside for them and the request again is that not going into stealing.0

Well, that's what i say as well, maybe it has something to do with there being two different amounts, i don't know. It only ever happens with asda, i've never had this happen when i order from tesco, i have an order in for tesco wine for monday and the payment has not been requested yet, maybe they only request it when your order is ready to be delivered, i don't know.
I just know the last time i had £83 that i couldn't use because of this happening.

Phone the customer services, tell them you want them to release the funds IMMEDIATELY and they will do it. I have had to phone them to do this twice, I now no longer use a debit card to pay them but a cc instead and just pay the full amount off at the end of the month.0

Hi
TEsco have done this to me. They didn't take the money, but put it through twice so it was earmarked and not available for me. This was in store - so it can happen anywhere0 -
after some very strong words to Asda and 5 phone calls later i was put through to their accounts department, one of their employee told me what happen is that they put on hold the full estimated amount, then when your order has been delivered they then take the proper amount off your card, the process is suppose to cancel the original amount requested but what happens is sometime their bank doesn't recognise the that the transactions are the same and request both amounts of money. He then told me he would phone their bank and asked them to sort it out but it could be 2 working days before this would be done.He rang me back after 10 minutes and said that their bank had sent a fax to mine and he gave me their auhorisation code for the transaction incase i wanted to chase it up with my bank. After speaking to him, i rang my bank who said that no fax had been received, but if i give them the authorisation code they would give me access to my money. But it really gets my goat that not once in any of the conversations did anyone apologise, and two of the employees tried telling me that they had not put one lot of money on hold then took another amount, which clearly they had.Still angry with Asda and i won't be using them again, but at least i got access to my own money.
Just came to rant about the same thing, first time I've used asda online, and the last.
They told me same thing, and said they take LOADS of calls every day about the same thing!"Transported to a surreal landscape, a young girl kills the first woman she meets and then teams up with three complete stangers to kill again."-- TV listing for the movie, The Wizard of Oz,0 -
