PPI reclaim - despite actually making a claim

Options
Hi there,

I've been looking into PPI reclaiming, and I have a question I can't find anywhere else. Would it be possible to reclaim PPI despite actually making a claim while unemployed? I had a credit card and a loan with a major bank. The loan is now paid off, the card still has a few thousand of debt on. Both had PPI which I've been paying for years, and it will total thousands.

Thing is, I made one claim on the card when I was unemployed about 3 years ago. It was for less than a month's repayment but the claim was processed and they did pay my fees for that month. I can't remember what happened with the loan, I'm getting a copy of statements to find out.

I guess my question is, is it possible to reclaim PPI if you have made a claim already? The amount I have paid in premiums will far exceed the amount I claimed. And the bank had sent me the forms unbidden, and I've read here that's a good sign that I have a decent case. So is it worth applying? And if so, what's the best way to approach this, how should I describe my reasons for applying?

Hope someone can help!

David

If you have valid reasons for mis sell then put the claims in, if you win, any claim you made will be taken off the refund.

Yes you can still complain. However, your reasons are diminished. You cant say you didnt know about it or didnt need it or were not eligible for it. However, you can use other reasons.

it is no indication of anything.

It's an indication that he had PPI:p

(I agree it doesn't signify that any complaint will be successful)

Thanks dunstonh, I think you're right. Still possible, but perhaps diminished as you say.

A further question then - would it be best to reclaim against the loan and credit cards separately then? If the loan has no claims against it, and the credit card does, the loan reclaim may have more chance of success. Should I make a separate reclaim for each?

    Hi,
Did you have a letter inviting you to make a complaint with the forms? This should clarify which PPI policy/ies the form relates to and should list the specific failings why the bank thinks you may have been mis sold

Neither have a "better" chance of success, what you need are valid and (preferably) verifiable complaint reasons. If you have robust complaints then both will be upheld-but obviously the refund for the credit card PPI will have the amount you've already received deducted from any redress.
You should indeed make separate complaints for both.
