Redundancy query

I have worked for a local authority for over 8 years. Last November I was at risk of loosing my job due to cut backs. I had an option of taking VR but managed to secure another job with a different local authority and my service has been continued over. I have now been with my current job for 5 months and hate it. I wish I had taken VR when I had the chance. My question is if I decided to leave my current job could I approach the local authority I worked with for 8 years to see if they are willing to give me VR. I'm guessing not as I chose to leave but it seems very unfair as I feel I was forced into a corner. If I leave my current job through choice I will have lost my service. Don't know what to do. Any ideas?

You will not be entitled to redundancy pay if you leave. Redundancy pay is compensation to @tide@ you over whilst you find another job, you found another job by transferring, therefore do not need it.:jI am an Employment Law Paralegal and an experienced Human Resources Manager and offer my guidance as simply that ... guidance :j0
