Anyone help with my next little problem. I'm trying to get a new basic bank account opened in readiness for my DMP so i can close my other 2 bank accounts. Problem is each one i apply to do a credit search and as my credit score is low i get refused. I dont have any history of missed payments the score is low due to the amount of debt. The only other option i seem to have is to keep one of my others open & try to pay the overdraft off gradually myself. Please help!!0

Just wanted to do an update so please excuse me for waffling on and for those that have taken the time to read this thank you for sharing this with me. I have finally sent everything off to CCCS together with letters to my creditors. Not sure how it has made me feel, scared, relieved and every other emotion thrown in for good measure. Suppose now its a waiting game to see how my creditors receive the news that yes, we're broke!! I do now feel fairly in control of my situation at last, next step is to cut up those credit cards, saving that one though to truly savour the moment!! Thanks everyone that has helped and supported me so far, this time last week i felt like my life was over but you have helped get me back on track. Sorry again for going on just wanted get things off my chest, thanks for listening x0

Hi again in need of more advice. Tried to do this as a new thread but can't seem to be able to start a new one (can anyone tell me how can't see anything saying start new thread) so putting it here in hope someone reads it. My DMP is now up & running & i have made my first payment to CCCS first payments going to my creditors on 25th August. I have had a letter from Northern Rock firstly stating they were happy to accept my payments but then got a letter today asking me to contact them urgently. They now say they arent happy to accept as my loan isn't that old. They say they want to secure the loan against my property & i must continue with full monthly payments. Obviously i cant do this so what do i do now? If they do secure the loan am i still expected to make the full monthly payments or does the court decide how much i have to pay? Also Lloyds TSB are still billing me as normal & adding interest & non payment fines any advice please? So far this is the only problem ive encountered but obviously im now very worried, i thought things were going too wel!!!0

Hi,
Ring the CCCS if you are worried about it and ask their advice. i would just ignore it for now - tell them you are with CCCS and there is nothing more you can give. I know it's worrying, but they are trying to scare you into giving more than you can. this sometimes works which is why they're trying it.
Hugs to you - i know it can be hard, but stick with it, it might take a while, but eventually they'll get the message!

They are trying to make your debts secured debts instead of unsecured...that means if you can't repay then your house is at risk! They are VERY naughty! They are trying to make sure that the debt you owe THEM is more likely to be paid back than any other debt you owe. They just trying to protect their money basically. DO NOT i repeat NOT accept this!
They cannot make you secure the debt and you certainly shouldn't do it! Tell them you are in a DMP, if they have an issue either contact the CCCS or contact you by letter and you will consult with the CCCS and reply to them by letter. If they continue to harrass you then you will have to contact the financial ombudsman.
Good Luck

Hi thanks for the advice so far. I have contacted CCCS but unfortuantely they cant help until Monday as their system is down for maintenance but they did say they have an agreement with Northern Rock for people on a DMP with them in that they accept any arrangement with them & told me to ring them back sying this. I did ring them back & got a horrible woman who said they dont have to agree anything with the CCCS & they are not going to accept an arrangement with me as the debt is too new letters are on there way out to me saying that they are taking it to litigation. I told them CCCS will contact them on Monday they said the can do what they like but it wont make any difference they're not accepting it & that's that!0

My problem seems to be that no-one will accept my offers of a DMP dont know if this is normal at this stage, everyone wants to default? I try & think of the positive side that even if they get CCJ's on me they wont get anymore money cus i dont have it so surely the judge will see that. Worst case senario is putting a charge on my house & then as far i can understand itthey wont get the money unless i sell or default in my monthly DMP payments & if i did have to sell well then i will just have to start over again. I do have some equity in my house so worst case i could pay them off & albeit it hard to get a mortgage, people do, so we could start afresh. This is me trying to see the bright, positive side but to be honest im crapping myself cus i doubt it would be as simple as that the word default or CCJ scares the hell out of me & i still get scared my house will be taken or i'll go bankrupt & everyone will know!! Anyway think on Monday i will have lots of letters from Northern Rock & will need to speak to CCCS. Had a letter from them today saying my bank will default too yet another one!! If that happens just let them know but carry on paying as normal, they dont seem concerned about any of it. Surely they would never have put me on a DMP if they thought it wouldnt work? Think i need some re-assurance! Anyone???!!!0
