Hi,

because some of my accounts are from a good few years back the HSBC are claiming they cant find anything and they only hold records for 6 years.

Will my SAR letter get around this issue and have i hit a dead-end?

    It will have cost you £10 to find out, but Banks do generally destroy information no longer thought to be required after six years in line with RSA guidelines.

    You have a greater chance if you remain a customer of theirs and the finance is not too long ago.

    so sounds like i submit the SAR with a cheque for £10....does the charge cover both me and my wife at all our previous addresses?

    Only if your wife shared a joint account with you.
    Your address changes are irrelevant, you'll receive everything they've kept on file for you as an individual.
