*newbie* Credit Professionals say PPI could've been added to loan despite my opt-out

Options
Hi, new to this site so any advice appreciated!

Compelled to post by scary reports I have just read on the internet about company called Credit Professionals.

Only reason I gave them my details in a cold-call was that they said many banks, Nationwide included, have added PPI to loans despite the applicant specifically opting out of PPI at time of application.

Is this true?!!

After reading reviews of CP, I am doubting it now.

I have now agreed to a form being sent out to me. I am thinking I will not sign it and return it and cease dealings with CP. But reading others' experiences, expecting that this will not put a stop to hassling phone calls etc from CP.

Any others with experience of PPI being added despite opting out, or of claiming with Nationwide?

Any advice appreciated.

Many thanks

Richard

No. Typically people forget or take no interest and wouldnt know whether they had it or not and assume they didnt. However, if you said no, the bank wouldnt go and add it.

Why not ask Nationwide? They will soon tell you or not.

Ring Nationwide they will tell you if you had PPI .

The claims company will tell you anything to get you hooked into sending a form for a random claim !

  • Thanks both. I was sceptical so I questioned three times their claim of PPI being added despite opting out – and they maintained it could be.

Looks like I've been "mugged"... Or more like lied to barefacedly..

Maybe I'll do as you suggest and check with Nationwide as a long shot.

You won't find anyone, they'll all have forgotten they signed for it, or agreed to it.

I currently have a complaint in with the FOS regarding exactly that.

My initial claim with Nationwide was declined - I claimed i opted out

They sent me confirmation that I opted 'in' with a photocopy of my application which clearly had the opt out box ticked then crossed out and then the opt in box ticked.

clearly I could have changed my mind with the application and crossed out the box myself, however, my wife being the hoarder that she is has kept a photocopy of all our financial documents and had my Nationwide application which clearly show i opted out...

Still waiting on the FOS to get back to me
