Patio door sliding mechanism

I have a sliding patio door leading out to a balcony and it does not slide very well.
The mechanism is just the door running on a guide.
I was going to hoover out the channel and then run some grease along the length of the guide to aid movement.
Is this the best way or any other solutions?

Don't use grease. It will just clog with all kinds of fluff, dust and rubbush and your door will be even worse. Use a silicon spray or WD40Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0

Thanks. The door doesn't seem to run on anything apart from the plastic channel so will silicon spray be enough?0

Furniture polish will also work.
Hoover it out with the narrowest attachment and the strongest suck (oh stop it). Then get in there with a damp cloth. Then use polish.
The trick is to stop the !!!! getting in there in the first place. If you solve that one, let us know.No longer a spouse, or trailing, but MSE won't allow me to change my username...0
