Just tell him it died - he's 12 and old enough to realise that pets will eventually die (if they're not killed in the meantime

Thanks for your comments everyone. I think I got off very lightly! DS was so keen to see the last episode of Dr Who ( I had recorded it), I decided the best time to tell was just before he watched it. He said "Aaww! thats a shame, he was four & a half years old" So much for him being very upset! Dr Who comes to the resue again.
I still miss the fish, he always caught my attention when passing his bowl (sorry , I mean tank albeit plastic, with gravel a castle & archway)planing for the future, living for today0 -
So glad it went so well, u know what kids r like they'll take it one way or another u just can't figure out which!
