Any such "harassment" should have been reported to the Moderators. It's also possible to add the user concerned to your "Ignore" List.
Either way, such behaviour should not be allowed to continue for "weeks"

It was reported to the mods. By numerous people on the boards.

Several times. The person concerned made around 20 profiles and rising at the last count. Thats the point. You can block one person and up they pop in a different guise. The person doing the trolling boasted about the fact that they had access to millions of different IP addresses.

At one stage the mods were PPRing the person and five minutes later they would pop up with a new profile. And given that the mods have lives and cant deal with every report (of which they'll get thousands a day), they couldnt shut down the new profiles quickly enough to stop the person making a new one.

The person was reported by the other people being trolled and several other people as well. It didnt stop them.

Im not responsible for the behaviour of trolls and putting someone on your ignore list only deals with so much. It doesnt stop you getting nasty PM's, my PM's were turned off at one point due to the volume I was getting.

And it doesnt stop them making a new profile with a fake IP address.

The mods can do nothing about someone who can make sockpuppet profile after sockpuppet profile from a new username every time.

Oh and having seen more "thanking" of posts that disagree with me, as happens when some posters clearly dont like you and want to thank every post that's in disagreement with you, I'll exit this thread now.

Its a shame that the thanks button has been turned into something that just enables posters to point score rather than using it for its intended purpose.

    Enjoy your day everyone.

Pauline your last few posts are prime examples of why the trolls target you.

One poster made a comment. You assumed it was about you & had a hissy fit justifying your behaviour.

The worse one I have seen on here was someone looking for a childminder. She named the area and the exact school her kids attended.

When I drew attention politely to the fact it wasn't wise I was pooh-poohed by several people.

All someone with ill intent would need to do was trawl her other posts and it could be easy to identify the poster and her children.

I just got a grabbit for example a pair of pink sparkly shoes.

With that kind of info all someone would need to do is sit in a car outside that school and they could all be identified potentially.

Ok, I admit, I don't get this kind of paranoia.

What ill intent? Why would someone want to sit outside a school looking for a child in sparkly shoes to identify them? What would they gain by knowing who that family are? Why would they target that particular family because they can identify them from posts on the internet?

I agree the poster concerned seems to be confusing possible internet "grooming" of children with simply revealing personal details on the internet.

I also agree that anyone with ill intent could sit outside a school, but what they could achieve in "identifying" the child's mother as someone who posted on a particular forum I'm not so sure.

I guess it depends on what else you post, and how much someone wants to take an interest in you.
If, for example, this poster has posted that they've won £10,000 in a competition it would be reasonable to assume that they will now have some good, new stuff in their house.
If a reader then identified their child from the school they go to and the shoes they wear, they could follow that child to find where they live.
If the poster then posts about a bargain bank holiday weekend they've just booked then boom. That reader now knows
    1. where the poster lives
    2. that they have lots of stealable stuff
    3. that they will be away bank holiday weekend

So the same information that people in the posters real life will most likely know, people who actually live near her and are more likely to target her.

I agree. I was going to add my 2p worth to this thread, on the issue of TMI, but I see it has been taken over by the me-myself-and-I tirade. This is getting tiresome. Not worth it.
