Help , Vinci parking fine in Cardiff

Options
Hi guys
I would be very grateful for some advice . I received a parking fine at the end of December for parking in an unmarked bay , I appealed to the car park but this was rejected . On advice from a friend I ignored it (not a good idea) I now know!!! Last week I received a letter from a solicitors advising I must pay £154 or face enforcement and could have a judgement against me ?!?!? What should I do ???

its definitely not a fine , its a parking charge invoice

now read the NEWBIES sticky thread for the latest advice on these issues, where you will find a whole post about debt collectors

you will also find that lazydaisy has posted about debt collector letters etc late last year too, so check both sticy threads for details and links etc

appealing to the rejection was the correct response, ignoring it has brought about your current situation, so do not ignore them in future

also check if a popla code was included within the rejection, which it should have been if they followed the BPA CoP

you also havent mentioned complaining to the landowner to get it cancelled either, so you have not actually done a great deal as yet, sorry to say
  • Thanks for reply I did receive a popla code
appeal form , but as a fool did not Appeal . I'm just reading through the newbie forms would I be better to appeal via the popla even though I am over the 28 day deadline or go direct to the landowner

landowner, you are too late to appeal to popla by your own admission above (the 28 day deadline)

your popla code is no longer valid and you wont get a second one

this would have been easily won at popla, within the 28 day timescale - too late now

I also do not believe you got a solicitors letter either, probably a debt collector letter dressed up to look like a solicitor letter

a proper solicitor letter would be an LBC by the creditor or landowner

Re the Solicitor's letter, send a reply like this one if it's Gladstones or similar:

Parking in an unmarked bay does not create any loss, so complain to the retailer/landowner/managing agent.

Did we say, DO NOT PAY?!
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
