It is more common than you think. It is not because you are dodgy or they think you are... It was probably randomly picked up by the system to be manually checked, but got stock-piled for too long. Spring/Summer is the worst time, as HMRC have fewer staff than they used to. As you have already contacted HMRC, if it is taking too long, chase them again. :)
  • do you know why it says payment not yet used, saying theres no charge to allocate it to??

I'm having the same issues as yourself and am getting really worried now. Filed SA on the 7th April and still saying not yet used as of yesterday when I checked this morning. Not even repayment pending

However, the last two years I have had the same message and it took 14 working days to receive payment into bank. Today would only be the 11 working day this year so I'm debating whether to hang on a bit longer.

I don't really want to contact HMRC. I have a horrible feeling I have entered something wrong and its been pulled. The business ceased in Sept 2013 so wondering if that has something to do with it :undecided:undecided:undecided

See other posts re. slow pay, they are utterly useless and the chances are it's either incompetence or just pure slow pay tactics nothing to do with anything specific to you.

Every April this board gets lots of these sorts of posts. Think yourself lucky you are not running a construction industry limited company. Mid-June is the best those folk can hope for, and slow pay tactics from HMRC mean that a year is not all that unusual.

They are an utter shower. It is as much conspiracy as it is kokk-up, sometimes every trick in the book is tried. And this from the same bunch that lecture industry on the evils of slow pay, honestly!

  • Im just worried that it will end up being investigated further although I've been told that you can correct errors online. I've only done the same as previous years. What are these supposed security checks???? Not even getting a message saying repayment pending this year yet.

Hello - I was just wondering where you got the mid June date from? That's really worried me now :(

In fact from HMRC. You must write to Longbenton, which I did this year on 10 April for my CIS limited company clients. Longbenton will entertain no discussion about making payments until after 31 May, because that's the sort of people they are.

So mid-June is the very best any CIS limited company can hope for.

In fairness to the previous poster, information provided by anyone in HMRC including the website is notoriously unreliable and I would never advise any taxpayer to place faith in that alone.

  • Sorry if this sounds like a thick question - but would that include self employed, sub contractors such as electricians or just limited companies?
