Theory on balance transfer (help)

Hey guys,
I have scoured the internet for an answer and had nothing concrete to read so I wanted to know what you all thought.
I have an AMEX cash back card and a Barclaycard Freedom Rewards card.
If I wanted to make a big purchase i.e -£1000
Could I pay for it using my AMEX (getting the cash back) then transfer to B/card on a 0% balance transfer?
I know this would depend if B/card would give me a balance transfer, but I've received a dozen letters through the post saying "YES! We can give you that BT"
Help is appreciated,
GreenLightLuke

In theory yes. Although some Amex holders do report problems with BTs, due to the 15 digit number.0

Yeah I was wondering whether it being an Amex card would prove problematic.0 -

I think the BT Fee is 3.5% on B/card - so no.
I never thought of that! Silly me, it wouldn't be worth it.0 -
