I reserved 3 items for collection at the Prescot store, one of which was an electronic Dictaphone.
I got to the shop, which was very busy, and gave my order number to the assistant, who verified the exact items. He told me the amount which I thought was approx £10 more than I had expected, but as the shop was busy I just paid with my credit card. He then said that I have got the £5 voucher for spending over £50: I pointed out that I had spend over £100, so he then changed it for the £10, which I should have received in the first place. Anyway, while I was waiting for my order I checked my receipt to see why it was the extra money and lo and behold I had 4 items on the receipt, instead of the 3 that I had ordered: the extra item being £9.99 for insurance cover for the Dictaphone!!!!! Needless to say I went back to the till and before I could actually say what was wrong, he said that he would take the extra item off the order and refund the money!!!! It was clearly the store's policy to up sell and include insurance whenever possible!!!
So watch out everyone.

Argos (and many other stores) always try and upsell electrical goods with insurance you really don't need, however they are always optional. I think they where very much in the wrong to put it in there automatically unless they had made it very clear that is what they where going to do beforehand.
I am always amused when a store offers me "insurance" on a product that works out to be more than the original product is worth.0 -
Naughty, staples do it every time I order something online. Think they call it order care. Its not much but it mounts up.Happiness, Health and Wealth in that order please!:A0
