How do we stop receiving other people's parcels?

Options
Is there a way to be proactive and telling the major delivery companies in advance to stop ringing our door bell and trying to leave us other people's parcels?

My father had a stroke last year and struggles to get down the staircase.

With the number of people ordering stuff online it's now getting to be a real pain having to deal with other people's parcel. First my father gets disturbed when he's sleeping by delivery people and then again at night when neighbours coming ringing around for their parcels.

Ideally we'd put a big note in our door saying to not leave parcels for the people next door but this of course might be read by our neighbours.

The door bell rang at 8:30am today for another delivery and woke up the entire household.

most obvious one is a not as stated. Why are you bothered if the neighbours read it? If you are that worried, then be proactive in politely explaining to them why you can no longer take in parcels.
You could also get a video doorbell. You can get ones that are wireless and have intercoms that are between £60-£100. Not cheap, but may be worth investing in, not just for the parcel issue, but to assist your father with all callers.

I don't think your neighbours will be offended by it, it's probably inconvenient for them, too.

agree, it's not like he's a fit lad just to lazy to open the door, if he's not well they'll understand. If not they are not neighbours it's worth bothering about :)

Its annoying the other way round to, I get a lot of stuff delivered by mail but hate annoying my neighbours with my parcels, I'd rather go collect them from the post office or them to leave it in a safe place but there is no way to communicate this to them!

I now have an Amazon Prime account, where they will deliver to my local shop by collect+ and its sooo much better, you could suggest this to your neighbours. The other options that you tend to have the same driver for a company per area, I see the same people often, you could just ask them not to deliver to you. You could also install a parcel box and a note on door saying all parcels to go in there.

Or even suggest to your neighbour that they do that.

I don't understand why you are concerned that the neighbours might see the note.

I would be more proactive - a big, clear note on the door saying that parcels for neighbours won't be accepted and a letter through each of the neighbours' letter boxes saying that your father's health is not good and he won't be able to take in parcels for them in future.

How simple this suggestion is! :T

I would definitely have a word with the neighbours. I would hope they would understand, I would feel awful if any of my neighbours were inconvenienced taking delivery of parcels I ordered, especially if I knew they were ill.

These days it is often possible to add further instructions to an online order, such as a safe place to leave a parcel if you are not home, so they could easily add a note saying please don't deliver to house no xxx.

    Bet.
Worrying won't stop bad stuff from happening, it just stops you from enjoying the good.
