This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

[FONT=Verdana, sans-serif]Hope you were all blessed with many Easter eggsI was, and I'm working my way through them at an impressive speed, lol.[/FONT]
[FONT=Verdana, sans-serif]Mr tru put wood treatment on the hall floor yesterday, I found myself trapped in the lounge for a couple of hours. He made me a cup of tea, took it outside and passed it through the lounge window :rotfl: [/FONT]
[FONT=Verdana, sans-serif]We had a fab storm yesterday. It went really dark and started raining, then I heard thunder in the distance. It wasn't long before it seemed to be right overhead, the lightning started and put on quite a showI put down my crochet and went to watch, I love a good storm.[/FONT]
[FONT=Verdana, sans-serif]Gardening has mostly come to a standstill, I've run out of compost  We have loads of homemade but it's not ready to use yet. We have a farm shop/small garden centre nearby, hopefully mr tru will remember to pick up a couple of small bags from there later. I'll put the last few tomato plants in the greenhouse tomorrow. It'll be nice to have my kitchen back as a kitchen, the last few weeks it's felt like an indoor greenhouse[/FONT]

Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them.
Now light, cloudy and overcast, wet underfoot and still raining.
DH up and getting ready for work.
Yesterday’s roast lamb was delicious, have a good quantity of LO’s – so that’s dinner sorted for another night. Yorkshire puds were huge – that doesn’t always happen – only thing that I recall that I may have done differently is made the batter early and left it to stand and also used 4 eggs not 3 – but good result whatever! Dinner tonight will be fish, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg. Hairdresser coming tonight.
Despite wanting a lazy chilled day yesterday – we did get a few jobs done – DH and I went to the local big DIY store and bought some bags of compost, tomato plants, herbs, decorative stone – when we got home and I continued to prep and cook the lunch, DH and the boys sorted everything outside in the garden. They managed to get it all sorted by the time lunch was ready – so then we all got a lazy afternoon.
Back to work for me today – but only got a full day today then half day tomorrow – so will fly by if we’re busy.
Had another win last night with no outlay to myself, so waiting for money to hit the bank account.
Keep safe and well x

Morning all,
Been raining here and looks like we are due some more, I am off to work as is dd, we are working in the same place today which makes it much easier.
Dinner tonight will be a bacon pasta thing with mushrooms and garlic and garlic bread.
Day off tomorrow (after working Monday) so will do a big roast then. I have to go to the post office after work to post an ebay parcel, the chap finally paid after nine days, and only then when I opened a case !
Sistercas not seen you about for a while, hope all is ok xx
Have good days all xx0 -
Definitely the way to go NMLC re batters. DD made her first ones this weekend and did what you did - they were yum xx
Hester - hope work goes ok.
Sorry my brain is mush still xxxxI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
Morning all,
Very wet here as well. Hugs for those returning to work this morning, especially those in education hope you have good days.
Need to nip to the library this morning.
Hubby is having a lie in as he was up early yesterday but when he does appear he's going to begin the tiling in the bathroom. Can't wait to see them.
We nipped to Ikea yesterday which I love and hubby hates. I did get some bits and of course candles but I'm sure the furniture is getting more expensive for what it is, maybe I'm just getting tighter lol.
Didn't sleep well, Totm and aching legs kept me up but everyone else crashed out.
We watched Jamaica Inn. I found it very difficult to tell a word anyone said. I know they are going for authentic but had to have he tv up full blast and even then it still sounded like mumbling, why can't people enunciate:rotfl:
The men folk will be full of speculation about Uniteds new manager today!
Tea tonight is chilli and rice with chilli potatoes and garlic bread.
Have a good day xStarted Self Managed DMP 10th May 2017.
Working hard to get rid of our debt.0 -
Morning all,
Back to work this morning, found it difficult getting up so early again. Been to Tesco and have a lemon cake cooking at the moment.
DS2 is upstairs doing his schoolwork and later we are going to fill in the application for college, although I still am not convinced it's what he wants. Still I suppose applying won't hurt - he has time to change his mind.
Curry for dinner tonight (probably).
Hugs to those on the mend or who feel down.0 -
Morning all,
well I was going to walk down to see Mum today but its raining and rather unpleasant out there. Just as well really as ive got a million and one jobs to do in the house today. I got absolutely nothing done after Friday. Each time I got the vacuum out I found I was either in the way of one of the dogs, a man deep in thought or 'Youngest' who was entertaining his lady love. I gave up in the end. However, on the positive side, the house must appreciate the added insulation provided by the ton of dog hairs that has accumulated. Its going to take me ages to vacuum them all up.
Didn't do a lot over Easter. I had my Grandson Saturday night and spent most of Sunday asleep. Every time he moved, I was awake, every sound he made woke me. His dummy dropped out of his cot and I shot out of bed twice.
List of jobs for today. I'll get started now hubby is at work and 'Youngest' is out.
[strike]Vacuum upstairs[/strike]
[strike]Dust upstairs[/strike]
[strike]Empty bins (of chocolate egg wrappers naturally)[/strike]
[strike]Stairs[/strike]
Vacuum downstairs
Dust downstairs
[strike]Kitchen floor[/strike]
Bathroom
Laundry
[strike]Phone council and arrange a bulk collection[/strike] Delegated that job to hubby. He can pay for it.
Tea - beef I think.
Molly, lovely to see you posting.
I'll see how many of them I can fit in today.
Onwards and forwards,

Morning all,
In bed last night heard a bang, so went to investigate. Power was off downstairs so tripped the switch back, and checked what had caused it. Turns out cat had weed in his tray, and spilled over into the electric box that is connected to my outside stairlift:eek: It was an accident, and I'm surprised that he didn't get electrocuted:rotfl: Trouble is it'll cost me now as the guarantee has run out:mad:
LO for dinner yesterday, did bubble & squeak and cold lamb with cauliflower and leek cheese. Yummy.:T
Macaroni cheese today.
Washing got wet yesterday, it's out today even though sun isn't shining yet.
Glad to see Molly posting. (((((((((HUGS)))))))
Have a good day all.I Believe in saving money!!!:T

Good Morning chums ,snuck home for an hour to catch up on paperwork,I'm still based at DDs a few roads away.We had a lovely Easter weekend very family oriented.Yesterday youngest 3 DGS went out with their eldest sister and her fiancee to Dymchurch leaving myself DD son-in-law and the eldest boy to our own devices, which was lovely, as it gave us a chance for an nice afternoon out. DD made a few sarnies, and a picnic up and we drove to Shoreham Valley about half an hour away.We were lucky to snaffle the last parking spot in the village
:) and walked along the riverbank and had our picnic in the sun watching a cheeky blackbird beg for crumbs for his squawking Mrs and babies up in the trees in their nest
:):)
We had a nice stoll in a circular walk around from the river up to the top road and along and back down through the village. Stopping at the Kings Arms for a bit of refreshment and I bought DGS Ben his first legal cider ( I daresay he's had a few tins with his pals before:):))He apparently likes the Bulmers berry one.Looks and tastes like a fizzy Ribena to me and DD
:):).But we had a very nice afternoon.Ben is 18 now and although he will hopefully be off to Uni in the Autumn he wasn't too old to have a paddle in the river, and an ice cream on the walk around. There he was sitting outside the pub with a glass of cider in one hand and a Calippo orange lolly in the other
:):) Bless hime.
They are all back to school and work this morning and I crept round to my house to do a few paperwork chores (no housework just yet:)) Youngest DGS Mikey has his school trip to Chessington today and he was so excited this morning and woke me at just after 6 to say 'Can I get dressed yet and how long before I can go to school ' I do hope the weather brightens up for him today. He doesn't get home until gone 5 tonight and I must be ready to hear what rides he's been on and what he's seen.
Right, I am just going to have a cuppa then a slow stroll back to DDs and let the dogs out into the garden then feet up and a bit of t.v. watching until they all come bursting through the door full of their day
Hope everyone enjoyed their Easter break
Cheers chums
