Hi guys.
Last week I misplaced my phone, it wasn't a big deal so I just got a new cheap one. When checking my bank today I noticed that almost £800 has been spent on an app on my old phone.
The app is called "CLASH OF CLANS" I downloaded this several months prior and have never made a purchase. Over the weekend someone has spent a immense amount of money on that game. I am hoping that this sudden spree of purchases would prove it is not me (but doubt they would care)
I have e-mailed them explaining this. Could someone please advice me further and what else could I do. Also what is the likelihood I would receive my money back???

Barn door advice: always report a lost or stolen phone to the police and give the incident number to your service provider.0

No evidence to say you did not purchase is the basic answer .
Phone not reported as missing or stolen or remotely locked .
Easy enough for the actual user to spend the money and throw the phone away and try to claim not me it was stolen .0 -
going to be a costly experience. Would you have taken the same view if you had lost a wallet with all your bank cards on it..
If that's what has been run up on apps, whats happened to the call usage? or was it PAYG?
Agree with JJ Egan that could so easily be buyers 'remorse' after running up such a bill... Same when 'Kids' run up xbox \ ps3 online purchases using parents sign in details.. who's to say it was then parent in the first place..0 -
Although having the handset blocked won't stop someone from running up costs in the App/Play (whichever is applicable) store, did you report the loss to your service provider and the police?
Probably a bit late now (although better late than never), but have you changed your password for your App/Play store account?Understeer is when you hit a wall with the front of your car
Oversteer is when you hit a wall with the back of your car
Horsepower is how fast your car hits the wall
Torque is how far your car sends the wall across the field once you've hit it0 -
Why did you think it 'wasn't a big deal'? The finder can run up unlimited credit on your phone-and until reported, the bill is totally down to you. We get frequent reports on here of stolen handsets or SIM's being used to run up ££ thousands in international calls within hours of theft.
You have next to no chance of the provider reducing the bill.
Am I right in thinkng that you still haven't reported the loss? In which cased the bill is probably still going up.No free lunch, and no free laptop

When I did my apprenticeship, things that are a trinket, but had a price where locked in the V&A cabinet, of which, us apprentices did not have access to.
Still treat my wallet, and come to think of it, my phone as the same.0
