Locked BT dect landline phone, how to unlock anyone please?

As above, I have accidently locked my landline phone, its a BT Dect phone but I have no idea what the model number is or where the instruction book is.
It has a key symbol in the right hand corner of the screen and whenever I try and press any button it comes up with 'PRESS' and then an up and down arrow, the only thing on the phone that has up and down symbols is the thing you move up and down for caller display, I have tried pressing those and nothing happens.
I hope someone on here knows how to unlock it or can point me in the direction of a manual that would tell me.

TIA - DD

Locate the model number on the label then do a search for the user manual on-line.

Model number may be in the battery compartment , either on the inside of the cover or under the batteries, possible removing the battery may unlock it !

Could it mean volume down button? There might be a volume rocker on the side.

Thanks, I've now found the model number, its BT studio 100. I've found the manual online too. What I thought was up and down key was actually the symbol for * It says in the manual to press * and that will unlock it, but it hasn't. I've tried several times. I've just taken the batteries out but that didn't unlock it either so I've taken them out and going to wait a while before I put them back in again.
It has just occurred to me, I wonder if the batteries need replacing and that is why its gone funny?
If I can't unlock it, it looks like I'll have to have a new phone because I can't even make emergency calls with the lock on - mind you, I won't be able to call anyone - ha ha, very moneysaving!!

That seems to have done it, I took the batteries out and eld them in my hand for a while to warm them and then when I put them back in and tried clearing it again, it did.
I don't think I had accidently put the lock on as it said you need to hold the * key for three seconds but I didn't, I only just picked it up so it seems its playing up due to the batteries needing replacing.

Thanks for your help anyway. xx
