Incorrect default on credit report, can I get it removed?!

Hi there, I've just checked my credit report and I'm really confused!
I had an account with Avon, which I didn't pay and amount of £134 for 2 consecutive months almost 2 years ago. I then paid the amount in full but on my credit report at that point it stated I had a balance to pay of £9,999,998!!!!!! Quite clearly I did not! It had that amount for 2 months even though I had paid it off in full and every month since then it has had a balance of £0 however it still has the red 8 every month saying I haven't satisfied the account!
How do I go about asking Avon to rectify and remove this?! As it should never have been a default in the first place!
Many thanks!

Hi,
You need to complain to Avon, in writing, stating your reasons that you believe the default they have registered is not accurate.
They have 8 weeks to give you their final response.
If they say no, then you can refer to the FOS.
Is it just the amount you are disputing or the default itself? Not sure how Avon works and what kind of credit agreement you would have signed.

The default itself as although I was 2 months behind with payments, I didn't default as that's 6 months isn't it?!0

Usually, it's 3 months. No longer than 6.
As per the ICO default guidelines.
There are exceptions, but worth a go.:beer:0
