Etiquette regarding promoting own competitions

Hi all,
I've been chomping on here for four weeks and thoroughly enjoying the community - I've been lucky to win four things so far (beginner's luck?) and am really grateful to all that post.
I run a not for profit music site and we are running some competitions that I think people would be interested in, but I am hesitant about posting in case it's against the rules / ethos of the forum.
Please let me know what people's views are on this sort of thing.
Best wishes,
David

It's against the rules. Martin regards it as advertising.0

I think however honourable the intention, it's a no-no. See the below rule from the comping board stickly.
9. No Advertising Of Own Websites. This site is free from advertising. Posts on any board considered to be advertising goods, services and/or companies will be removed. This includes the posting of a competition from your own site or from a site that you are employed by. We also do not allow advertising via PM. Examples of this can include anything from a specific sales post or a link to your own website in which you attempt to sell something to someone offering their holiday home to forum members. Unfortunately we cannot allow any advertising of any description no matter how honourable the intention. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -

Thanks all. I assumed that would be the case, which is why I thought best to ask first. Thanks for all the quick replies!

And having had a quick scoot at your site they seem to be twitter ones. No chance of any facebooks/other amongst the tweets?
(Not sure if I'm meant to be asking, but what the heck.)All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

for posting your own comps & once they're posted on other sites like that one or other comp sites they generally end up on here & over the comp sites.please be a responsible pet owner & spay/neuter your pets, too many strays & not enough homes for them sadly.0 -
Thanks for the advice. I tried HotUKDeals but got a formal warning. Oops!
