I know its not what you originally asked but toilet rolls of different heights taped onto a square of cardboard (cereal box etc) can be decorated by your little one and will sit on a desk/table.
Then when they are board of the design can be easily and cheaply made again :-)

Funnily enough she has one of these already. We covered the loo rolls in decorative paper and she uses it as a desk tidy. Works really well.
I just wanted something with bigger 'pots', thus the tin can idea. PAYDBX 2016 #55 100% paid! :j Officially bad debt free...don't count my mortgage. PAYDBX 2016 #55 100% paid! :j Officially bad debt free...don't count my mortgage.

You could cover them with sticky backed plastic and go over the top so covering the edge.I Believe in saving money!!!:T

What about other containers, like the ones you get cocoa powder in? (supermarket own versions often have larger size tubs than the brand names) you can put the contents into a jar or something if you don't want to wait for them to be used up!
If you do use a tin, maybe glue some thick felt or denim around the cut edge - even the "no sharp edges" can-openers and ring-pull tins will probably still leave an edge of thin metal that would cut.

            RE: Pringles tube
Why not just buy one of the smaller tubes to begin with?0

Cocoa powder tins are a possibility. Good call.
Smaller pringles tubes are more expensive I think than the bigger ones are, especially if I can get 2 from one big one ( I could be mistaken as I haven't bought pringles in a long time). Also, I've only seen really tiny pringles tubes, and I am not sure they'd be tall enough for felt tips. Is there a half size pringle tube?PAYDBX 2016 #55 100% paid! :j Officially bad debt free...don't count my mortgage.
