mortgage ppi

Hi,in around 1989 I took a mortgage and was given a ppi,but when the crash happened just after then, I discovered my ppi did not cover self employment although this was given as my occupation. The only thing I can remember about it was Fox and son estate agents did the paperwork and possibly bradford and bingley were the lenders, but am not sure.My then wife has long since passed away and I have the memory of a goldfish!
Is it too long ago and how would I go about finding out?
At the time I complained about the ppi being useless but was told to go away.
Thanks, Paul

Most mortgage brokers did not become regulated until Jan 2005. The FSCS will only consider post Jan 2005 sales. Is it too long ago and how would I go about finding out?
You would complain to the estate agent. However, they would reject it as pre-regulation (assuming they can find any details and they still exist).I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
