Power cable + Galaxy tab 3

I was wondering if anyone with a samsung galaxy tab 3,(or any other tablet for that matter) that finds the issued power cable can be temperamental when charging up?.
I ensure the micro end is placed in correctly, and the plug is in correctly and the USB which enters the plug is snug, but there are times when it doesn't charge. It's frustrating because it only needs a slight touch all round and it charges, so clearly one of the connections isn't just right.
I'm told you shouldn't use power cables from mobile phones, even though they fit, but no-one say's why not.
I'm tempted to buy another power cable from Wilkinsons tomorrow, one that doesn't have the usb thing.
Any suggestions please.

Well posted problem its very easy to bend USB pins by yanking out the cable .0
