Motorpoint try it on as well
£89 there to cover new number plates, Valet, PDI, HPI certificate!
Salesman will argue till blue in the face its required, but on the website its clearly marked as Optional.
The car still comes with a basic valet and PDI, and the HPI (Not required of course as buying from dealer)..
It seems most of the salesmans commision these days is in this and the overpriced GAP and Protection Kits. Dont fall for it...Over 100k miles of Electric Motoring and rising,0 -
You can buy GAP Insurance for about 60% cheaper than the dealer is offering by buying online and it's normally better cover
Check your insurance doesn't already include gap cover. I bought a new car earlier this month and nearly fell for extra gap insurance, only to find that my insurance company (Saga) include gap insurance for a new car up to two years old. I expect that other companies do this too.I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.0 -

Most insurers give Vehicle Replacement which is not the same as GAP but evidently similar. This however is only on brand new cars where you will be the first registered keeper. Saga is in the minority for providing it for 2 years, most provide it for 1 year only.
On the basis there is discussion of HPI checks it would suggest that the OP may have been buying a secondhand vehicle and so this wouldnt apply
As to the OPs statement, welcome to the world where everyone now buys on price alone. The result is everything possible is cut from the headline prices to get up the price rankings etc and then lots of fees and extras are added back in later after you've expressed interest/ clicked through etc.0 -

Thanks - yes, I didn't word my post very well. By 'up to two years' I meant a brand new car for the first two years, original keeper only.I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.0
