£800 owed to me... how can I invest it... Ideas please?

A friend that I lent £800 to in November 2013 on the promise they would pay it back to me by Christmas 2013 (and has been telling me every month since 'soon just wait a few more days please')... now they have told me they can't give me the cash back. They don't have it.
I have asked them to pay in instalments but again each month they just 'don't have it.'... even though she has been holiday twice in the last 12 months with her kids to Florida.
Anyway she has told me if I want to buy something worth £800 they will pay for it on their credit card.
I really need the money as I am quite skint myself but I don't personally want/need anything or things that would come close to £800. So I really don't want to buy something that I don't want.
My question is... what can I spend the £800 on with the intention of selling the items on Ebay/Gumtree/Amazon etc?
I want something/somethings that will hold their value as much as possible obviously so not to take a big loss. I am already taking a loss due to Paypal fees etc.
Any ideas anyone? I really don't have a clue where to start.
Many thanks

If she can afford the CC payment, why cant she just pay you. She will also be paying the CC company interest.....make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
I mentioned this and she said her boyfriend pays her credit card bill for her monthly and she doesn't want him knowing she owes her friends money too. 'The time is now.'0

I would tell her to take the cash from her credit card. Maybe settle for 600-700 and then never speak to her again.Pay-outs since 28/11/2013:
OpinionOutpostUK - £245 MySurvey - £68 Swagbucks - £255 Clixsense - $935 Crowdology - £40 PineCone - £48 Panelbase - £30 IPSOS - £30 ValuedOpinions - £30 GTM - £600 -
as above but don't settle for 600-700, get the full 800.We’ve had to remove your signature. Please check the Forum Rules if you’re unsure why it’s been removed and, if still unsure, email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

She said her card won't allow cash withdrawals, it is with B@rclay card and they only let some customers withdraw cash. I have literally covered every possible way of trying to get her just to pay cash to save me a lot of time, hassle and loss of cash but she always has a reason as to why. This is the only way she can pay me back she says as her boyfriend will pay the card bill. As I have come to see, she isn't a morally well strung person.
And yes Bryan, you can say once I have got my money back we shall no longer be friends. 'The time is now.'0 -

I think she's already said she wouldn't do that as she doesn't want the boyfriend to know about it. Accepting a reduced amount may encourage her to do so, however. Better to take a 25% hit than prolong this any longer, in the hope you'll get the full amount.

Open a ZOPA account and get your friend to deposit the £800 in there. You can then use it to lend-out via the social lending platform for a nice 7% return.
Or send her a 'Letter Before Action' to frighten her into paying. The mere thought of Court action and all the extra fees on top + the risk of a CCJ might well be enough to frighten her into paying.
Os course, if you know her b/f, you could always mention the fact she owes you money to him.
Don't forget however, that she now not only owes you £800, but an extra 8% apr on top.Never Knowingly Understood.

get an oz of gold from a well known bullion dealer like atkinsons and sell it on ebay and make a little profit on top.0
