Hello,

Looking to get a remap done for my tdi pd 130 engine. Not too aggressive, a mix of fuel economy and performance.

Not really looking for opinions on whether a remap is a good or bad idea just looking to see if anyone has come across any good deals recently or would recommend anywhere good to get it done.

Many thanks!

I'm a member of a couple of them but snobbery takes over with those forums. Money Saving is not on their agenda! I can easily find ones that will do it for £3-400 but was hoping someone here may have experiences of doing it cheaper.

I didn't think they were that pricey, more so a couple of hundred maximum, personally I don't know of any , I will ask on my VW forum and see if there are any replies.

I was going to agree with the advice above that finding a recommended tuner from a VW site and would still say that. The reason money saving isn't on their agenda is because a remapping service should not be chosen on price, it is worth spending the money to have it done by a tuner who has a good reputation because if it's not done properly it can result in costly repairs.

Shark Performance are well regarded on the Skoda forums for VW tuning, I'm perhaps misreading their page but it looks like the remap for the PD130 engine in a Golf Mk IV is £250:

I used Angel tuning for mine but I believe they have no changed hands. My Golf cost £225.

The 130PD is a great engine to remap, it increased fuel economy and made it a delight to drive.
Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.

Anyone come across blacksmoke remaps? Sounds pretty amazing if you are confident! Good reviews on vag forums too.

I would second Angel Tuning, there's also a few guys out there that will actually do the remap on your driveway for under £200!

Sometimes the money isn't from the remap itself, it's from the rolling road afterwards and all the tweaking that may need to be done.

Awesome GTI in Manchester have a fantastic reputation and are very professional. They've been doing it for years. They regularly have special offers on and will even do bulk deals saving quite a lot of money, such as remap + retrofit cruise control which is a common mod for PD engines.

Specifically, speak to a guy call Al. Very meticulous in his work.

remap = get it from someone with good reputation and experience.

There are chancers with pirated flashing tools who will just copy the remap patterns off a mapped car. They probably dont know what they're doing and if problems arise they are clueless.

If you then take it to a reputable tuner to diagnose and fix the map, they wont touch your car as they don't want to be blamed for any damage that has already been caused.
