i'm in the market for a new camera and i would like to upgrade from my old compact digital camera.
i would like something a little bit more professional and with a good zoom. i have narrowed it down to the following 2 cameras and comments and advice would be very welcome.

I'm not an expert in photography and I was looking into cameras recently.
What I found out was that there is new family of cameras called compact system cameras (aka mirror-less). These are smaller than DSLRs but bigger than compacts. In mirror-less cameras, the photo quality is suppose to be a lot better than compacts and in some cases the same quality as DSLRs. Like DSLRs, these have interchangeable lenses.
Just wondering is your budget under £200?
I went to JL recently and saw a few cameras there. What I noticed is that often returned cameras have 15% off. So I would highly suggest going to JL for a browse. I saw Sony A5000 with kit lens discounted to £350 as it was opened and returned according to their returns policy.0 -
yes, my budget is under £200SPC 0370

You would be better spending an extra few pounds and getting the sx510
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Canon-PowerShot-SX510-HS-Camera/dp/B00EQ7EGXU/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&rps=1&ie=UTF8&qid=1398115113&sr=1-1&keywords=sx510 which is the replacement camera for the sx500. Review here: http://www.cameralabs.com/reviews/Canon_PowerShot_SX510_HS/verdict.shtml
Alternatively, the sx500 regularly appears on the Canon ebay outlet for around £99, so if you decide to get one of those, its worth checking there.0 -

Take a look at DigitalDev. They're based in Hong Kong, but deliver to the UK (and provide a UK call center) REALLY quickly. You might need to pay a little on import duty (~£10-15)
They have the sx510 for under £2000 -

They're listed as refurbished, but I've bought a few and they have all been like new (including original packaging). You get a proper 12 month Canon warranty as well.
I've just checked and they've got some listed at the moment http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Canon-PowerShot-SX500-IS-16-0-MP-Digital-Camera-Black-Refurbished-/390825622195?pt=UK_CamerasPhoto_DigitalCameras_DigitalCameras_JN&hash=item5aff05bab30 -
