MSE News: Energy switching times to be cut in half

If the energy suppliers put as much effort and money into retaining customers as they do in trying to bamboozle them then we`d all be a lot better off.
If they`re paying these comparison sites £60 for every switch that takes place, surely this money would be better spent keeping their existing customers by giving them the £60 to stay.
It's not that simple.
Over 60% of UK households have never switched supplier
Of the less than 40% that have, they didn't all use a comparison site.
The government wants to encourage customers to switch supplier. I'm not sure how your proposal, albeit fundamentally flawed, would help achieve this aim.0 -
The government wants to encourage customers to switch supplier.
The government should be encouraging the suppliers to compete.
At long, long last they have (through public backlash and the fear of Red Ed) finally referred them to the Competition Commission.
This should have been done years ago, as the word cartel springs to mind.
The only downside is the length of time it`s going to take but at least in the run up to the election the big six (you would think) will watch what they`re up to.0 -

Wrong thread mate. The rant board is further down0 -
If the big energy companies collude and bahave like a cartel, the regulator needs proof. Maybe we need a bounty, or reward of some sort, for whistle blowers. Since they won't be able to get another job easily, the pay out will need to be substantial, but if we can fine the companies, the bounty pays for itself.0
