Hi
I currently have the AVG paid virus protection. They keep offering me AVG Tune Up for an additional fee and saying that it will speed up the start up of Windows on my laptop. Is it worthwhile or not?

Probably it wouldn't do anything you couldn't do yourself, given a bit of time and knowledge. Are you particularly bothered by your Windows start-up speed?0

In a word, no. It's TuneUp Utilities under an AVG wrapper, and not worth paying for at all.........Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple

It doesn't actually seem that slow to me except on days when Windows has provided updates the previous evening (and told me not to switch it off). I had a freebie trial so now it keeps prompting me to pay for the full thing. Think I will uninstall it so I don't get more prompts/reminders.0

1) Get an SSD - Solid State Drive
2) Download StartUp CPL from http://mlin.net - a tiny program that should be run in Administrator mode to see what is running on Startup. You will be able to un-tick 90% of the options. Post a screenshot of each tab here and I can tell you - if you have anything Adobe, that's a start.
3) No need to re-install Windows. It's a lot of work for not much gain IMO.0 -

What exactly is a solid state drive? Do you just mean a separate hard drive? Don't I need Adobe Acrobat0 -
